After being on the run for two days, a 25-year-old Mid-City man wanted in the tasing of an NOPD officer turned himself in to authorities on Thursday morning, according to a report on WVUE-TV. Brandon Bernard was booked into Orleans Parish Prison on counts of battery of a police officer, aggravated battery and criminal damage to property, jail records show.
Officer Brittany Marigny responded on Monday about 10 p.m. to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment in the 3100 block of Tulane Avenue, where a woman said Bernard, her boyfriend, had locked her out of their home during a fight.
After Bernard allowed the officer and his girlfriend into the apartment, he left but eventually returned with one hand behind his back. Marigny ordered him to show both his hands.
Police said Bernard refused, pulled a stun gun from behind his back, and tried to attack Marigny. He fired the taser into her arm, leaving burn marks. Marigny was hospitalized for a brief period.
Bernard fled the apartment. He turned himself in Thursday about 10:30 a.m.?
